Idiom of the Week – Week 7

Each week of 2017 we present an English idiom.

“to shelve sth”: to postpone something or remove it from consideration

Example 1:  Let’s shelve that idea and discuss it later in the year. We have too much on our plates right now.

Example 2:  The department shelved its plan for additional training until the spring.
