Which English grammar book is best?

Our clients often ask us about grammar books. Which one is best and why? We use different books depending on the client’s needs, but here are a few that are popular.

Cornelsen’s Übungsgrammatik Englisch Grammatik – kein Problem (A2-B1) is one resource we use. For beginners, choose the A1-A2 edition. I like these books because the explanations are in German and the exercises also focus on typical mistakes German speakers might make.

The most popular series among English trainers is probably English Grammar in Use from Klett/Cambridge. In fact, trainers often call the books Red Murphy (A1-B1) and Blue Murphy (B1-B2). Why? Before the new edition came out, red and blue were the colours of the books. Murphy is the last name of the author.
